Reduce Your Electric Bill
Electricity Audits
The audit program starts with a specific walk-through electricity audit of your house, concentrating on both the "background" usage you're not even aware of and the more discretionary high-usage areas that we can modify. Many homeowners are unaware of what is driving their bill so high and a thorough analysis, circuit-breaker-by-circuit breaker, can identify what is creating that background power draw. Simply learning what contributes to your electric bill is often half the battle in eliminating the energy drains that can take up to 35% or more of that bill.
From there we identify specific appliances and behaviors that make up the discretionary portion of your electric bill - pool pumps, air conditioning, multiple overhead incandescent light in the kitchen, computers, etc.
Replacing incandescent bulbs with numerous types of CFLs (Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs) or LEDs, putting your computer and entertainment centers on timer-based and sensor-based power strips, updating lighting fixtures with motion-sensitive capabilities, etc., all contribute dramatically to lowering your bills and creating a greener environment.
PowerDown will not only identify these areas for you but we will recommend specific tools and products - energy monitors, CFLs and timer-based power strips, etc. - that will help you cut back from that point forward.
The PowerDown audit also includes a detailed report sent after two business days that spells out exactly what the temporary energy monitor has determined (regarding energy draw by each circuit) and a list of longer-term recommendations to reduce your bill month after month.
